Andrew Steele

Senior Director - Global Precision Medicine Oncology Lead Genmab

Dr Andrew Steele is Senior Director of Translational Medicine and Research at Genmab, where he leads global translational and clinical biomarker strategies across hematologic malignancies. He has more than 20 years of experience spanning academia, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry, with expertise in advancing antibody therapies and targeted small molecules from first-in-human studies through late-stage clinical development.

His scientific work focuses on the biology and treatment of B-cell malignancies, particularly chronic lymphocytic leukemia and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. At Genmab, he has served as the global translational medicine lead for epcoritamab. His expertise includes circulating tumor DNA–based measurable residual disease assessment, immune cell profiling, multi-omic analyses and diagnostic development to understand treatment response and resistance and inform clinical development decisions.

Before joining Genmab, Dr Steele held leadership roles in precision medicine at Regeneron and oncology translational research at Janssen, contributing to programs in leukemia and lymphoma. Previously, he was a tenured Associate Professor at the University of Southampton, where he led research into tumor microenvironment signaling, therapeutic targets and resistance mechanisms. He retains a Visiting Professor appointment at Southampton.

Dr Steele has authored or coauthored more than 60 scientific publications and is a named inventor on multiple patents relating to therapies and biomarkers for hematologic malignancies.
