As a member of the Biomarker development team at Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Leighla is responsible for assay development working closely with various groups internally to develop their biomarker targets. Leighla graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with majors in Neuroscience and Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. After graduating, she started her career with Ionis 5 years ago as an Analytical Chemist in Pharmacokinetics. Her background in bioanalytical method development and regulatory requirements translated well as she’s taken on the development of biomarker assays. Leighla develops immunoassays for both non-clinical and clinical drug programs and is currently supporting the development of over 20+ biomarker targets.
